My Story

I started dancing in church halls after school when I was 6 years old and have been passionate about dancing and fitness ever since! I studied at The Arts Educational School, Tring Park. At 17, I moved to New York to train at the American Music and Dramatic Academy.

I’ve been performing and teaching in the US and England ever since! My favourite performing credits include: An American in Paris, The Addams Family, Legally Blonde, Chess, Annie, A Chorus Line, Mamma Mia, Cabaret, Sweet Charity, Hairspray, Fame, Grease, Gypsy, Miracle on 34th Street, A Christmas Carol, Man of La Mancha and…Dick Whittington (here in England) performing the role of Tommy the Cat. In performing A Christmas Carol, I danced the role of the Ghost of Christmas Past en pointe.

I taught Ballet to young Figure Skaters in New York City at the Sky Rink at Chelsea Piers for 5 years (2005-2010)

I moved back to London in 2016 and was eager to put my teaching shoes back on! I’ve been teaching Ballet and Barre in North London since early 2017 and absolutely love it! I started teaching my own method online during lockdown in 2020. My style reflects my background in dance and fitness. I really love working with people who enjoy exercise and dance! I believe it’s important to encourage and allow students to have fun and enjoy class. The intention is to build a strong foundation of technique and achieve strength, posture, flexibility, balance and or course confidence!

The Swannell Barre Method

Swannell Barre is essentially a ballet based aerobic work out. My classes consist of a warm up in the centre, a sequence of exercises at the barre (all done on both sides) and some stretch and toning on the floor (with a mat).

Swannell Barre is an excellent way to sculpt your body while experiencing a taste of the world of ballet! My class is tough but extremely effective! It’s an excellent work out structured to build strength, flexibility, lean muscle tone and confidence.

BALLET BARRE IS NOT JUST FOR DANCERS! ANYONE CAN DO IT!

It doesn’t matter how much (or little) dancing experience you have! My classes will always be in a safe and relaxed learning environment! I constantly demonstrate, explain, correct and encourage each individual student.

Swannell Barre is like no other class. Over the years I’ve found barre the best discipline by FAR, in terms of changing my body at speed. Barre delivers faster results for me than Pilates and Aerobics because it has elements of both, but also – and this is key – the dance element.
